Cebu is known as the “Queen City of the South”,because like Metro Manila, it’s a bustling urbanized area, where you can see  high-rise buildings, cool bars, huge malls, and trendy restaurants. Aside from this, Cebu is also a major gateway; through its the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, it welcomes flights from all over the world, attracting all kinds of travelers. Cebu is not only a modern social hub situated in Visayas, but it’s also an island paradise offering natural attractions such as whale sharks, turquoise-colored falls, and several mountain peaks, to name a few.

Cebu City, the center of the province of Cebu, is an hour away from Mactan-Cebu International Airport. It’s advisable to book transfers ahead of time for more convenience.

flyeast Philippines offers to arrange private airport transfers that are safe and efficient. Regardless of your expected time of arrival, there will be airport transfers available, be it late at night or early in the morning. We recommend this arrangement especially if you’re bringing huge pieces of luggage with you,  you’re travelling in large groups, or with senior citizens or kids.

Cebu City was also declared as the very first capital of the Philippines because it was where Christianity first started in the country; Ferdinand Magellan, the famous Portuguese explorer, first introduced Christianity to Cebu during the 1500s.  Up to this date, a huge portion of the Filipino population are Catholics.  Experience more of the city’s history by taking a 2-kilometer heritage walk and see colonial houses, streets, forts, and churches.

Experiences in Cebu

Swim with whale sharks.

Oslob is a two to three-hour drive from Cebu City wherein you can see a couple of attractions, some are maintained while some are still being developed. The most popular activity in Oslob is swimming with whale sharks.

Recommended schedule for jumping into the water for your much-awaited whale shark interaction is usually around 6am until 10am. One top rule to be followed is strictly no touching of the whale sharks. Environmentalists around the area remain vigilant to protect the whale sharks and avoid any disturbances to its natural behavior. Seeing these gentle giants in real life is surely a fun and unique experience!

Take a sunset hike to Osmena Peak.

Osmena Peak is the highest mountain in Cebu; it’s located in Dalaguete wherein you can enjoy the view of breathtaking green jagged hills. The hike to Osmena Peak is quick which only takes about 20-25 minutes to reach the top. Osmena Peak can be foggy in the morning, which is why the best time to go up is during the afternoon when you can catch the sunset.
